Wilderlands CIC

Wilderlands manages ancient forest and land, and is a long term nature rewilding project.  It was founded in 2020 to support nature at a time when, all around the world, we are losing our wildlife, natural habitats, our wild eco systems and natural resources at an unprecedented rate.

It operates as a farm seeking to create a haven for biodiversity in all its forms and manages 20 acres of 5 medieval meadows and collaborates with its partners as custodians of 213 acres of ancient forest, and another 44 acres of wild meadows in Sussex near Fletching.  Wilderlands partners with Sussex Wildlife Trust to guide nature recovery, with the Woodland Trust and Forest Without Frontiers for tree planting.

A small grant has been awarded to support “Roots to Wildness’ a 3 year project that works together rewilding both land and people, using the arts as a medium to create living art and sculptures that are also habitats for wildlife to thrive.

Launched in Summer 2024, the project will create  opportunities for people from different backgrounds that may not have easy access to nature and green spaces to get involved creating living art as habitats. It seeks to set up a collective of these artists to share this ethos across the country, creating living art.

The funding will be used to buy materials, create wild flower meadows and sculptures that are living biodiverse totems within the landscape that represent what’s lost from our landscape.

If you don’t fall in love with nature, why would you want to protect it.
