Living On One

Innovation for Change

In 2010 four US college students spent two months living on $1 a day in rural Guatemala to experience living in extreme poverty and to help their friends connect with the poor.  This adventure has been a great success in terms of awareness-raising and the boys decided to give up the possibility of well-paid jobs to set up a non-profit ‘Living On One’ to engage young people with global poverty.

A small grant was made to help enable the boys to tour an old school bus across the US in Autumn 2012 to host events at high schools and universities and have screenings of the documentary made of their adventure ‘Into Poverty: Living on One Dollar’.  The bus will use solar energy to power projection and its PA system and will use biodiesel fuels.
