IWC – Watch Auction
IWC Schaffhausen, renowned Swiss watch manufacturer and Plastiki Expedition Partner, auctioned a special Plastiki watch for the Voice for Nature Foundation, raising Euros 30,000 towards the Foundation’s work.
Founded in 1868, IWC Schaffhausen has a long heritage of Swiss watch manufacture with a passion for ingenious inventions, innovative solutions and technical refinements. Active climate protection and ecological responsibility are part and parcel of the company’s philosophy. This traditional Swiss manufacturer has lowered its carbon dioxide emissions by 90 per cent and has been a certified carbon-neutral enterprise since 2007.
IWC produced the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Edition ‘Plastiki’, a limited edition of 1000 watches paying tribute to David de Rothschild’s pioneering expedition. Built to take the rough with the smooth, it is the perfect choice for the modern explorer. The elaborate engraving on the case back shows the sea route from San Francisco to Sydney, together with the Plastiki catamaran.
